Λnβro Capital Investments has made its TITANS Portfolio available on Mesh.trade. Here’s a quick guide to what makes this AMC unique, how it’s constructed, and what investors need to know about it.
About Λnßro TITANS
What is the AnBro TITANS AMC?
The TITANS AMC is Λnßro Capital Investments’ flagship large-cap equity strategy. It focuses on the biggest and most dominant companies within each of the 11 major industry sectors of the S&P 500 that define the US economy. These are businesses that have demonstrated long-term success, global reach, and a proven ability to weather diverse market conditions.
What are those 11 industry sectors?
To craft a diversified investment portfolio, Λnβro has structured TITANS to cover 11 distinct industry sectors. These include Technology, Industrials, Financials, Materials, Energy, Consumer Staples, Consumer Discretionary, Health Care, Real Estate, Communication Services, and Utilities.
What makes a company a Titan?
Titans are the “best of the best”. These are US companies that lead their industry by market capitalisation, resilience, and performance; that operate across multiple geographies and are globally relevant; and that have demonstrated sustained success through various economic cycles. Titans offer deep liquidity, allowing for smoother trading and reduced volatility. Examples of such companies include Apple Inc., with a market cap of over USD3 trillion, and Take-Two Interactive, one of the smallest by weight in the portfolio but still highly liquid.
What are the benefits of investing in the TITANS Portfolio?
With equal weighting and broad diversification, the TITANS portfolio offers investors a balanced exposure to the world’s most elite corporate performers. It offers several key benefits:
- Diversification: No single sector or stock dominates the portfolio.
- Global Exposure: Many companies operate in both developed and emerging markets.
- Liquidity: All constituents are highly liquid, enabling efficient entry and exit.
- Blue Chip Quality: Composed of established, well-managed global leaders.
- Cornerstone Potential: Ideal as a foundational portfolio component or as part of a broader investment strategy.
How is TITANS related to Λnßro’s other AMCs?
There are three Λnßro portfolios already available on Mesh.trade – Λnβro Unicorn Global Equity AMC, Λnβro World’s Biggest BRNDZ AMC, and Λnβro Dynamic Compound AMC. TITANS, with the other three portfolios, make up the full AnBro Global Portfolio. Each portfolio has its Identity and theme, with a unique strategy, risk profile and investment goal.
How is the portfolio constructed?
The Λnßro TITANS portfolio is:
- Equally weighted across the top five companies in the 11 S&P 500 sectors.
- Titans are selected using proprietary screening tools designed and actively managed by AnBro Capital Investments.
- Built to be diversified, reducing risk from over-concentration in any one sector or stock.
How are the companies chosen?
Λnßro’s proprietary model selects these companies within a very specific, strict framework. The market is segmented into its separate individual parts using Global Industry Classification Standards (GICS), which covers the 11 sectors that drive the US economy. Extra emphasis is placed on factors such as profitability, financial stability, growth rates, size, market share and market leadership. The results are then screened, and further layers such as volatility and beta are measured against long-term returns. The desired result is to capture the strongest performers across each slice of the US economy. The best five stocks in each GICS sector (based on Λnßro’s proprietary model) are then added to the portfolio.
What is the portfolio’s track record?
The TITANS portfolio has been part of the Λnßro stable for ten years on a bespoke basis to a handful of offshore clients. Its returns have demonstrated a strategy that is able to outperform the S&P 500 in most market conditions, including critical periods such as the market downturn in 2016 (attributed to factors such as the China slowdown, oil price collapse, and Brexit), the 2018 market challenges (trade war and interest rate hikes), the impact of Covid-19 in 2020, and the recent market setback in 2022 (following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which contributed to a surge in inflation and prompted a substantial increase in interest rates). This comprehensive set of circumstances encompasses various scenarios, some of which may resonate with current conditions (e.g. trade wars) and provides reassurance regarding the portfolio’s performance.
How are the stocks in the TITANS portfolio weighted?
An important feature of the TITANS portfolio is that it’s a “balanced portfolio”. In line with that strategy, equal weighting is given to each of the individual stocks across each of the 11 sectors in the portfolio, to ensure that no one stock is overweight against the rest of the portfolio. If you look at the Sector Allocation on the Asset View on Mesh.trade, you’ll see that they all have a 9.09% weighting. To maintain this balance, any profits earned by high-performing individual stocks during the year are redistributed across the stocks in the portfolio that underperformed, so that all stocks start the year on an equal weighting.
How often is the portfolio re-weighted?
Each year AnBro runs its proprietary model to screen and select constituents across the 11 GICS sectors. Once selected, the portfolio is equally weighted. This process is run at the end of each year, at which point, new entrants (if applicable) are added, those that no longer qualify removed, and again the positions are equally weighted. This process allows for the redistribution of gains and profits from companies that outperformed into quality businesses that underperformed. This ensures that the portfolio is able to benefit from any industry or economic cycle that prevails in the coming year.
How has the TITANS Portfolio performed?
While past performance is not indicative of future results, the TITANS strategy has a strong historical track record. It has:
- Outperformed during various downturns (2016, 2018, 2020, 2022).
- Maintained lower volatility than the S&P 500 over the past decade.
- Shows a better Sharpe Ratio (a measure of the risk-adjusted return) and Sortino Ratio (a measure of the excess return relative to the downside risk) than the S&P 500.
Who should invest in this asset?
Λnßro believes that the TITANS Portfolio has something for everyone. “We believe that this portfolio has G.R.I.T. and could easily form the cornerstone of any investor’s long-term assets,” says CIO Craig Antonie. “Its appeal is diverse, and it is attractive across the risk spectrum.”
G.R.I.T. refers to four types of investors:
- Growth-oriented Investors: The portfolio’s equal weighting amplifies the impact of mid- and large-cap outperformers in growth sectors like Technology and Consumer Discretionary, which may be underrepresented in market-cap-weighted indices.
- Risk-conscious investors: Risk is mitigated via equal weighting and sector diversification, which reduces volatility compared to concentrated or market-cap-weighted strategies.
- Income-focused investors: These investors benefit from dividend contributions from top stocks in defensive sectors like Utilities and Consumer Staples. The equal weighting ensures income is not overly reliant on a few high-yield stocks.
- Tactical investors: This is a core holding that benefits from sector rotation, with annual rebalancing ensuring alignment with economic cycles (e.g. favouring Industrials during recoveries or Health Care during uncertainty).
